The Beginning: A Labour of Love
Two years ago, TJ - Temple Pathfinder and passionate cyclist - decided to build a bike from scratch for his partner Wen, so they could begin bikepacking together. Choosing an elegant Lichen Green Adventure Disc frameset, TJ sought to create something unique and tailored to Wen's needs and dreams. This build was more than just parts and tools; it was about learning, appreciation for the meticulous, purposeful design, and putting thought into every detail. Each part was carefully chosen, including eye-catching Nitto bullmoose handlebars, a Brooks B17S saddle and MKS BM-7 pedals. From the Halo rims to the smooth-rolling Panaracer Gravelking tyres, TJ’s enthusiasm for bikes and all things adventure ensured a sophisticated, handmade finished product, assembled with care and intention: a beautiful, one-of-a-kind Adventure Disc.
Building His Own Dream Machine
Now, inspired by his first building experience, TJ has turned his attention to creating his own bike, a custom ride that will carry him on future bikepacking journeys with Wen. This time, he’s chosen a slate blue Adventure Disc frameset, perfect for the rugged paths he hopes to explore. Each component reflects his approach to balancing performance with personal style: a 1x11 custom groupset with Temple’s triple cranks, an elegant Nitto semi-swept handlebar for comfortable handling, and Temple Ergo Leather grips for that touch of timeless craftsmanship. In his own words, TJ describes the process as "a way to connect with the bike before even setting out." Built in his own living room, this bike reflects TJ's care, his skill, and his vision.
